Lil Nas X and Zendaya together in one project sounds like a dream, but it came closer to being a reality than most of us would have believed. In a recent interview with Variety, Lil Nas X revealed he was offered a role in HBO’s hit series Euphoria, but ultimately turned it down because he didn’t feel it was the right time.
“I was actually going to do Euphoria, but I didn’t want to take time away from finishing my album,” the Georgia native told the publication, speaking about how he wants to present himself as an all-rounder and “self-made-legend.” (ICYMI, the musician announced his debut album, which will be called Montero, with a Marvel-esque trailer in June.)
After multiple publications (and Twitter) caught wind of Lil Nas X’s “euphoric” revelation, the 22-year-old also took to Twitter to clarify why exactly he had turned down the role, writing, “This was not me saying [I’m] too good for Euphoria, that’s literally one of my favorite shows right now.”
Now, the Euphoria ship might have sailed (at least for the forthcoming second season) but that does not necessarily mean acting is fully off the table for Lil Nas X. “I definitely want to get into acting, but I feel I have to give it my all, and I want to focus on music for right now. I want my first movie to be amazing,” the star added. Via music videos and teasers alike, we are already privy to at least some of Lil Nas X’s theatrical talents, so you can bet we’ll be patiently waiting.
