Hear Kristen Stewart’s British Accent in First Princess Diana Movie Trailer

The first trailer for the Kristen Stewart-led Princess Diana biopic Spencer has finally arrived, which means it’s time to hear Kristen’s British accent.

After a powerful poster for the film dropped earlier this week, Neon shared a trailer for the film, which comes out November 5, 2021. Kristen plays the beloved Princess of Wales, and the trailer shows that all is not well inside the crown, despite the decadent meals and glamorous outfits. The soundtrack is an eerie choral version of Lou Reed’s 1972 classic “Perfect Day,” which underscores Diana’s spiral inside the royal family —  complete with dramatic dance choreo and a sprinting scene.

Back in 2020, Kristen told Jimmy Kimmel that the film covers three days in Diana’s life — at the Sandringham estate over the Christmas holidays in the ’90s. “It’s this really poetic, internal imagining of what that might have felt like, rather than giving new information,” she said of Spencer. The days captured are the ones leading up to her divorce from Prince Charles. “It’s hard not to feel protective over her. She was so young … everyone’s perspective is different, and there’s no way to get everything right … what is fact in relation to personal experience.”

The trailer closes with a scene between Sally Hawkins’ fictional character and Diana. “They know everything,” the friend says, to which Diana responds, “They don’t.”
